Your First Step to A Lovely Year

What does a lovely year mean to you?
For me, a lovely year means finding moments of joy in the everyday, making progress towards my goals, and (because there WILL be ups and downs) tackling the challenges that life throws at me with calm confidence.
It means feeling proud of what I’ve achieved and looking forward to the future with anticipation and excitement.
For me, a lovely year doesn’t mean that everything is perfect, with no twists and turns, or bumps along the way.
Because that’s just a fantasy. It’s not real life.
But it does mean having strategies to deal with those challenges when they appear.
It means developing habits, practices and systems that build happiness, resilience and confidence.
How about you? Do you feel the same?
Imagine your life one year from now.
How would you like your life to look? How would you like to feel? What would you like to have achieved?
Wouldn’t it be wonderful to look back on a year well spent?
A year spent enjoying your days, fulfilling your goals, tackling your challenges and feeling accomplished.
And then looking forward with anticipation and excitement to the year ahead.

Here at A Lovely Year, my goal is to help you to live a more intentional life.
A life where your day-to-day choices align with your values and take you closer to your goals.
A life where you make the most of your most precious resource – time.
I focus on ways to:
- BOOST YOUR HAPPINESS
To recognise and celebrate the little things that make a big difference to your wellbeing
- GET ORGANIZED
To create a sense of calm and order that makes everything else easier
- FEEL ACCOMPLISHED
To get things done, and make progress towards your goals, big and small.
Oh, and you don’t need to wait.
A lovely year doesn’t just start on January 1st (though yes, it’s as good a day as any).
It starts anytime you decide.
You can start your lovely year now!
Because I’m going to share with you the first step.
The number one, most important thing you can do to create your lovely year.
The foundation for your lovely year
Practice self-care
I’m not talking about spa days, bubble baths and glasses of champagne (lovely though they are…)
I’m talking about true self-care.
The small actions you take consistently to protect, maintain and improve your physical, mental and emotional health and wellbeing.
True self-care is all about:
- staying fit and healthy
- being aware of what depletes you and taking steps to replenish your mental and physical health
- treating yourself as kindly as you would treat others
Because when you take care of yourself, everything else falls into place.
When you practice self-care consistently you’ll:
- Feel calmer, more relaxed and generally less stressed
- Get to know yourself better
- Build self-esteem and feel more confident – by taking the time to take care of yourself you are acknowledging to yourself, your family and the world that you are important
“But….” I hear you say. I’m going to stop you right there to address your concerns/excuses…
